Electric mobility company eWAKA has been recognized among Top 50 Africa’s leading mobility companies in the 2026 Mobility X Africa rankings, highlighting the company’s steady growth and operational performance in Kenya and Rwanda as demand for sustainable transport solutions continues to rise across the continent.
The recognition also identified eWAKA as one of Kenya’s five highest-ranked mobility businesses. The company was also named the highest-ranked woman-led mobility company in East Africa and one of the few woman-founded businesses featured in the continental ranking.
The company currently operates in Kenya and Rwanda, where it has released more than 1,200 electric cargo bicycles and motorcycles. Through its platform, the fleet has completed over 1.1 million deliveries, reflecting the growing commercial adoption of electric mobility solutions in the region.
Furthermore, eWAKA has developed an operating platform that combines managed electric fleets with battery access, rider and technician management, financing services and proprietary software. The company said this integrated model is designed to improve operational efficiency while reducing the cost of fleet ownership for commercial operators.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Céleste Tchetgen Vogel said the recognition reflects the company’s long-term approach to building commercially sustainable electric mobility infrastructure rather than focusing solely on vehicle deployment and that disciplined execution and efficient capital allocation remains key to the company’s growth strategy.
However, by combining financing, charging infrastructure, and fleet management into a single ecosystem, companies such as eWAKA are positioning themselves to address multiple barriers to adoption of e- mobility across Africa.
In a move to expand its operations, eWAKA plans to grow its managed electric fleet, invest further in its technology platform and deploy additional growth capital into its existing operating model. The company is betting that a technology-enabled, capital-efficient approach will allow it to capture a larger share of East Africa’s rapidly evolving electric mobility market.
