Samsung’s 2027 flagship lineup could be the company’s most ambitious premium smartphone release yet if a new report proves accurate.
Samsung is preparing eight flagship devices for next year, with the Galaxy S27 family arriving in the first half of the year and four foldables following later. The reported lineup includes a new Galaxy S27 Pro alongside a Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra, suggesting Samsung is continuing the broader product strategy that began with this year’s Fold8 series rather than treating it as a one-off expansion.
The report claims Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra before releasing the Galaxy Z Flip9, Galaxy Z Fold9, Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra and Galaxy Z TriFold 2 during the second half of the year. If that roadmap remains unchanged, Samsung would have its largest premium smartphone portfolio to date, giving buyers more choice across both conventional smartphones and foldables.
That direction would build on changes introduced at Galaxy Unpacked 2026. Samsung moved beyond its long-standing Fold and Flip formula by splitting its book-style foldable range into the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, with each device targeting a different type of user. The Fold8 adopted a wider passport-style design that prioritised everyday comfort, while the Fold8 Ultra retained the taller form factor and focused on buyers who wanted the company’s most advanced camera system, display and productivity features.
Viewed alongside those launches, the latest report suggests Samsung may be applying the same thinking across its wider flagship portfolio. Rather than relying on a handful of premium phones to satisfy every customer, the company appears to be creating more clearly defined devices that address different preferences, budgets and usage patterns.
The reported Galaxy S27 Pro is perhaps the most interesting addition. According to the report, it will feature a 6.47-inch display and sit between the Galaxy S27 Plus and Galaxy S27 Ultra. It is also expected to offer more capable camera hardware than the standard models while remaining smaller than the Ultra.
If Samsung follows that approach, the S27 family would no longer be separated only by screen size. Buyers looking for flagship photography without carrying the largest phone in the lineup would gain another option, while the Ultra could continue serving customers who want Samsung’s highest-end specifications regardless of size.
The foldable portfolio also appears set to expand. The Galaxy Z Flip9 would remain Samsung’s clamshell foldable, while the Galaxy Z Fold9 would continue as the mainstream book-style model. Above it, the Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra could once again target productivity users and buyers seeking the company’s best foldable hardware. The report also says development of the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is underway, indicating Samsung intends to continue investing in multi-fold devices after introducing the first generation.
Taken together, those products would give Samsung four distinct foldables instead of the traditional Fold-and-Flip pairing that defined much of its early leadership in the category. Each model would occupy its own place within the premium market, making it easier for Samsung to compete with rivals offering different designs and price points.
The broader portfolio also has implications beyond Samsung. Apple is widely expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone, and earlier industry reports have suggested it will adopt a passport-style design similar to the direction Samsung took with the Galaxy Z Fold8. If Samsung enters 2027 with four foldables instead of two, it would have more flexibility to respond to new competition while offering buyers a wider range of mature hardware and software experiences.
None of this has been confirmed by Samsung, and there is still plenty of time for the company’s plans to change. Product names, specifications and release schedules often evolve during development, and some devices may never reach the market in their current form. The reported 6.47-inch display for the Galaxy S27 Pro, for example, remains unusual for Samsung’s premium lineup and should be viewed as an early claim rather than an established specification.
Even so, the report fits neatly with the direction Samsung has already taken. The company spent years refining a relatively small premium portfolio before expanding the Fold family in 2026. If the latest information proves accurate, that expansion may have marked the beginning of a broader restructuring that extends across both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z families, giving Samsung one of the most diverse flagship smartphone lineups in the industry.
