After 10 years, Xiaomi is dropping the Mi Branding

Looks like Xiaomi is ditching the Mi Branding ten years after launching the first smartphone bearing the Mi brand. This is according to a new report by  XDA-Developers

What this means is that Future Xiaomi products won’t carry Mi branding and will just be called Xiaomi.

This comes just a few weeks after the company unveiled the new Mix smartphone: the Xiaomi Mix 4 and as you can tell from the name the usual “Mi” branding was missing.  XDA reports that a representative for the company told them that all of its upcoming products will follow suit.

Xiaomi has been using the Mi Branding on some of its other products including televisions, wearables, laptops, and even tablets so it’s interesting to actually see them dropping it.

In China XDA also reports that Xiaomi is already selling devices without “Mi” in the name.

‘’…so this move also brings their global product naming strategy in line with their Chinese one. ‘’

In March this year, Xiaomi also unveiled a new logo which was  just a slight adjustment from what they previously had. The new logo has a slightly more rounded corner, along with redesigned “MI” typography, which is pretty much everything about the new design.
