Huawei Y8p Unveiled with 6.3″ OLED Display, 48MP Camera and 6GB of RAM

After unveiling the Huawei Y7p in several markets, including Kenya, Huawei has quietly introduced a new Y-series device dubbed Huawei Y8p. Huawei Y8p has a strong offering under the hood from its FHD+(2400 x 1080) OLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor, up to 6GB of memory, and a 48 MP f/1.8 main camera sensor.

On design, the front offers a 90.17% screen-to-body ratio. There’s a little dewdrop notch housing the 16MP selfie camera. Other than that, the bezels have been well trimmed off on the side and the top.

The Y8p is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 710F processor aided by Mali G51-MP4 GPU. The CPU can run at maximum clock speeds of 2.2 GHz.

On the rear is the so-called 48MP AI Triple camera array. Apart from the 48MP f/1.8 lens, there is an 8 MP f/2.4, ultra-wide-angle Lens, and a 2 MP f/2.4 lens that takes control of bokeh in portrait shots.

Like in Huawei Y7p, this device also lacks Google apps but you still get Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 splashed on top and Huawei’s own HMS.

The phone comes in two variants with either 4GB or 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage in Breathing Crystal or Midnight Black colors. Onboard storage can be bumped up to 256GB, but only via Huawei’s own NM SD Card.

A 4,000mAh non-removable battery provides power for the whole system which supports standard 10W charging technology. Other features worth mentioning about this device support for Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Availability and Price

Huawei Y8p is selling in some markets at around Ksh 29,000. In Kenya, it’s not yet clear when this device will be unveiled. However, stay tuned for an update on the same.
