Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has completed a technology bootcamp aimed at giving primary and secondary school students practical skills in artificial intelligence, robotics and other emerging technologies.
The Enugu Kids Coding and Emerging Technology Bootcamp was organised in partnership with the Enugu MSME and Startup Agency, exposing students to several technology fields, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics and Automation.
Participants also received training in drone technology, autonomous systems and 3D design, providing them with early exposure to technologies expected to play a growing role in Nigeria’s digital economy.
Representing NITDA’s South-East Zonal Director, Ikechukwu Eze urged the students to continue developing the skills acquired during the programme and apply them to practical challenges.
He encouraged the participants to pursue innovation beyond the classroom and use technology to develop solutions that can contribute to Nigeria’s digital transformation. The programme forms part of efforts by NITDA to expand Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline by introducing young people to emerging technologies at an early stage.
According to NITDA, building technology skills among younger learners can help prepare a new generation to participate in the country’s growing digital economy and emerging technology ecosystem. All participants received certificates following the completion of the bootcamp. Students who demonstrated outstanding performance were also awarded laptops and tablets.
The initiative highlights the increasing focus on early digital skills development as Nigeria seeks to build a workforce capable of supporting advancements in artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and other emerging technology areas.
