Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has expanded its collaboration with Oracle to support the growth of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI data centres, with HPE Juniper Networking equipment set to play a larger role in Oracle’s global artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The expanded agreement covers the potential multi-year deployment of HPE Juniper Networking routing and switching platforms across Oracle data centres worldwide, alongside networking support services and financing capabilities.
The collaboration comes as Oracle expands its AI infrastructure and builds larger AI superclusters, which require high bandwidth, low latency networks capable of managing congestion and recovering quickly from infrastructure failures.
HPE Juniper Networking already supports parts of OCI’s data centre and edge networks. Under the expanded collaboration, Oracle could deploy HPE Juniper Networking PTX and MX routing platforms, as well as QFX and EX switching platforms, across its global data centre footprint.

The networking infrastructure will support different layers of Oracle’s cloud and AI environments. MX and PTX routers currently support parts of OCI’s edge network, while QFX switches are deployed across several layers of its regional data centre fabric.
The latest QFX switches are expected to support the high-density connectivity required by large RoCEv2 (RDMA over Converged Ethernet version 2) networks used to connect GPUs in AI infrastructure. The systems also provide dynamic load balancing and congestion management capabilities designed for AI workloads.
Oracle said the HPE Juniper Networking portfolio has become increasingly important across its AI clusters, regional data centres and edge networks.

Beyond networking hardware, HPE and Oracle are working on intelligent telemetry capabilities intended to provide OCI with greater visibility into network and device performance.
The telemetry can help identify issues including queue buildup, packet loss, traffic imbalances and component degradation at an earlier stage. This visibility is designed to enable faster troubleshooting and reduce potential effects on GPU utilisation and network availability.

The expanded collaboration builds on more than a decade of engineering work between Oracle and Juniper Networks and extends the role of HPE Juniper Networking within Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.
The agreement also includes multi-year networking support services. As part of the arrangement, HPE has issued Oracle warrants to purchase shares of HPE common stock.
