Spotify’s New Anniversary Recap Goes Back to Your First Day on the App
Spotify’s new anniversary feature pulls together years of listening history, from the first streamed song to long-term artist habits
Spotify users opening the company’s mobile app this week are being given a long-range view of their listening habits as the streaming platform introduces a new anniversary feature built around account history. The rollout arrives as Spotify marks 20 years since the company was founded in 2006, ahead of the service’s wider international expansion that followed in later years.
The new experience, titled “Your Party of the Year(s),” compiles listening data stretching back to the first day a user joined the platform. Available through Spotify’s mobile app, the feature presents account milestones, repeat listening behavior, and historical playback figures gathered across a user’s full time on the service.
Spotify said the anniversary experience includes listening statistics that have not appeared in its yearly Wrapped campaigns. Users can revisit the first track they streamed after creating an account, review their most-played artist over time, and see how many unique songs they have listened to since joining the platform.
The company is also generating a personalized playlist containing 120 tracks tied to each listener’s playback history. Spotify pairs the playlist with stream counts showing how frequently each song has been played by that account.
While the format resembles Spotify Wrapped, which focuses on annual listening trends, the anniversary rollout draws from a much longer archive of user activity. The feature reflects a broader push by streaming platforms to deepen engagement through historical personalization and social sharing tools that keep users active inside their ecosystems beyond end-of-year campaigns.
Spotify has built some of its strongest online visibility around shareable listening summaries, particularly through Wrapped posts that circulate widely across social platforms every year. “Your Party of the Year(s)” follows a similar model by allowing listeners to create custom stat cards designed for sharing with friends or posting online.
Users can access the experience by searching for “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s)” within the mobile app. Spotify has also published a dedicated mobile landing page for the feature. The anniversary experience is not currently available through Spotify’s web player.
The launch also arrives as Spotify continues facing scrutiny from parts of the music industry over artist compensation, even as the platform expands user-focused engagement features tied to listening data and personalization.
Users can access the anniversary recap directly through Spotify’s dedicated “Your Party of the Year(s)” link on mobile devices. The feature is currently limited to the app experience and is not available through Spotify’s web player.
