The Nokia phone in Nviiri’s Niko Sawa music video is a Nokia 5.4

HMD Global collaborated with Sol Generation where the Nokia 5.4 smartphone and Nokia ringtone feature in the video.


If you’ve watched the ‘Niko Sawa’ song by Nviiri the storyteller featuring Bien Baraza of Sauti Sol, chances are you have spotted a Nokia phone somewhere in between the video.

The phone is a Nokia 5.4 that HMD Global launched in the Kenyan market back in April this year. 

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones collaborated with Sol Generation where the Nokia 5.4 smartphone and Nokia ringtone feature in the video.

Sol Generation is a music record label, founded in Africa with the sole mission of producing Iconic Live African Acts.

HMD says the collaboration with Sol Generation celebrates artists and how they are using their creativity to share happiness, love, and hope through music. It also follows the 48 hours of change initiative that launched at the end of 2020. HMD Global worked with different personalities across the globe to explore the power of change in just 48 hours – and encouraging more positive use of mobile technology.

The song Niko Sawa features the Nokia 5.4 smartphone showcasing the artists using the smartphone to communicate and capture lifetime memories, something we can all relate to. 

The Nokia 5.4 features a 6.39-inch HD+ (720×1,560 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC.

Nokia 5.4 packs a quad rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The selfie camera is 16-megapixel housed in a hole-punch cutout. It is 5.4 is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging.

It comes in Polar Night and Dusk colour options with the 4/128 RAM/ROM configuration priced at Ksh. 24,500.
