Safaricom Updates MySafaricom App With New Features

The new detailed and interactive M-PESA statements plus more

Safaricom’s MySafaricom App update has brought with it a range of new features. The most notable of the bunch is the new interactive M-PESA statement providing a simple way to view the flow of cash in your mobile wallet.

You can view the most recent transactions, Money In, Money Out and there’s an option to request for a full statement for a given period. Either for the last 3, 6 or 12 months. These full M-PESA statements will be sent via email.

Aside from these, you can also do other functions that would require you to dial a USSD code.

For instance, purchasing data, SMS or minutes, viewing balances, Lipa Na M-PESA services, Airtime top-up, sending money via M-PESA, withdrawing cash, accessing KCB M-PESA and M-Shwari services and even paying for and reading the digital e-papers from Standard, The Star, Daily Nation and more. Safaricom’s Home fibre customers can also use the app to manage their subscriptions.

All of these were previously available inside the app. There are two ways to access your M-PESA statement via the app. The first option is by going to the M-PESA tab on the bottom row or by tapping the Safaricom logo then selecting M-PESA Statements.

The update is part of the company’s continued work on revamping its digital channels.

“In order to enhance the digital lifestyles of our customers, we embarked on a digital transformation journey to rethink and digitise our operations. The revamped digital channels will ensure that we continue to empower our customers even as we simplify our products and services,” said Safaricom CEO, Peter Ndegwa.

Safaricom says the new app launch will be promoted using a media campaign dubbed ‘App Your Game’.

The app’s latest version also streamlines logging in the app with automatic one-time password detection doing away with the manual entry approach. Safaricom is still rewarding new users free 500MB for downloading the app.

MySafaricom is available on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
