Call of Duty Mobile was a much-awaited mobile game by Activision. The game was released last week for both Android and iOS, and the numbers speak volumes. The game has risen to fame, instantly recording a total of 100 million downloads in both Google Playstore and App Store combined in a week.
These numbers give an edge to the mobile game rising to the top of the bar on first-week download numbers achieved by previous popular games, including PUBG and Fortnite. PUBG recorded 28 million downloads in its first week, while Fortnite had 22.5 million downloads.
But keep in mind that unlike Call of Duty, both PUBG and Fortnite had some restrictions while launching. PUBG was back then released in limited regions while Fortnite was exclusively available on iOS devices at launch.
Call of Duty on its side has been launched in both iOS and Android across the globe except in few places like mainland China, Vietnam, and Belgium.
But still, it is clear Call of Duty had a colossal launch week.
Randy Nelson, head of mobile insights at Sensor Tower, a research firm, stated, “This is by far the largest mobile game launch in history in terms of the player base that’s been built in the first week.”
Worth noting that this is without a China launch either.
Activision previously had 37m monthly active users across its brands (Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot etc…) on PC/Console.

SensorTower says iOS made up 55.7 percent of Call of Duty: Mobile’s downloads. In terms of revenue, iOS accounted for 53 percent of the total $17.7 million in revenue from in-app purchases in the launch week.
