Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, And Mi10 Series To Be Launched On Wednesday in Kenya

The dates have been set. Xiaomi Kenya is officially pulling the wraps off the Redmi NOTE 9S on April 29, which is Wednesday this week. The launch event will be held online exclusively via social media – Twitter and Facebook.

The phone has  a 6.67-inch, 2400×1080 IPS LCD display, up to 6GB of RAM, upto128GB of storage, a 5020mAh Li-po battery, 18W wired quick charging but ships with a 22.5W rated charging brick.

There’s also Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 protection, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 48MP AI quad camera(48MP f/1.79 main + 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide + 5MP  f/2.4  macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth), a 16MP In-Display Front Camera, microSD card slot, a Side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports 4G LTE network.

On the same date, the company will also unveil the recently announced budget Xiaomi Mi 10 flagship series. The Mi 10series comes in two different offerings – Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Taking on Galaxy S20 series, Xiaomi’s MI 10 series is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor.

Both phones have fast LPDDR5 RAM (up to 8GB) and UFS 3.0 ROM technology (up to 256GB), WIFI 6 support, Samsung’s 108MP camera which brings 8K video recording, and a 6.67-inch 90Hz AMOLED 3D curved display with HDR 10+.

The Mi 10 ships with a 4780mAh battery, and supports 30W wired and wireless charging while the pro version takes it a notch higher on wired charging to 50W, while retaining the same wireless charging speed. For the Pro model, you’re getting a 65W charging brick included in the box which supports the PD charging protocol – can charge other PD compatible devices as well.

Pricing

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S will be available in two memory variants. The 4GB/64GB model will cost Ksh 22999 while the 6GB/128GB model will cost Kshs 24999. The MI 10 series will start at Kshs 66999 for the 6GB/128GB model and Kshs 69,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant.
