TECNO SPARK 3 Pro Unboxing

The TECNO SPARK 3 Pro went on sale in Kenya a couple of days ago. The SPARK 3 is the third variation from the SPARK series to be launched in the market and TECNO is selling this pro version for Ksh.12,499.

Remember TECNO first introduced the SPARK series in August 2017 targeted for the mid-range smartphone market. The series, according to TECNO was meant for price-conscious consumers and at Ksh/12,499 the TECNO SPARK 3 definitely going to compete with the Huawei Y6 Prime 2019 which is selling at Ksh.13,499. We will definitely do a comparison of the two devices.

That aside, the SPARK 3 seeks to build on the achievements of its earlier siblings, the SPARK (SPARK K7 and SPARK Plus K9) which were the most sold devices from TECNO in the country in 2017 and the SPARK 2. The SPARK 2 was a good device although one of the major disappointments was that it lacked 4G LTE support.

We got a SPARK 3 Pro review unit from TECNO which were going to unbox and share with you some few details about the specs and what you should expect should you decide to purchase this device. Those who purchase the phone also get a gift hamper from TECNO.

The TECNO SPARK 3 PRO comes packed in an orange box with the phones image and TECNO SPARK 3 PRO text splashed at the top. Inside the box, there’s the unit itself and the usual accessories which include:

  • A Micro-USB Cable
  • A 5V 1.2A Charger
  • Earphones
  • Sim ejector tool
  • Back cover
  • Warranty card and some
  • User manual

I love the new design on the TECNO SPARK 3 PRO. It’s completely different from what we saw on the SPARK 2 and you can easily mistake it for the Camon 11. It also comes with a notch, but you have an option of hiding it the settings. The display is also very good, very sharp and clear.

The speaker, Charging Port,  Microphone and Headphone Jack are all at the bottom. The top is completely empty.

The volume and power rocker buttons are all on the right side while the opposite side houses separate slots for the two SIM cards and microSD card.

The back houses the dual cameras and the fingerprint scanner which is quite fast. Apart from the fingerprint scanner as a security feature you also have Face unlock.

I also tried using the cameras and they seem not to disappoint. Remember it comes with dual rear cameras with AI which I will also be trying out during the few weeks I will be using this device as my main phone. The device comes with a 3,500mAh battery which is a good size that should last you for an entire day.

Below is a summary of the specs:

  • 6.2-inch HD display
  • Quad-core MediaTek MT6761 processor
  • 2GB RAM and 32 GB onboard storage
  • Main camera: 13+2MP
  • Selfie camera: 8MP
  • Android 9 Pie OS
  • 3G, 4G Support
  • 3,500mAh battery
  • Fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock

I have the full review coming up in a few weeks so keep visiting to read about my experience using the device.
