Buckle Up ShowMax Subscribers, Live News Ends Today

ShowMax is ending its live news streaming today, on June 30. The streaming platforms sent a message to its subscribers explaining that access to live news channels was temporary.

“From the end of June 2020, live news will be leaving the ShowMax platform. We were given access to these channels as a temporary measure in the early days of the COVID-19 crisis in order to help everyone keep up-to-date on the latest developments,” the company said in a statement.

The live news channels were added to the streaming service at the end of March to allow its users to stay updated on the latest developments regarding the pandemic. ShowMax had added a number of channels including CNN, BBC World News, Al Jazeera, and Sky News.

Although the virus is still upon us, many countries are opening up to return to some sort of normalcy. ShowMax, too, is buckling up to prepare for the changing times and is, therefore, doing the necessary.

“As lockdown is now easing and slowly we’re getting back to some kind of new normal, we’re going to be discontinuing the news service.”

“We’ll, of course, keep an eye on developments and if the circumstances change we’ll do our best to step in again and play our part,” the company concluded.
