Infinix ZERO X Pro Review: So Much To Like

Infinix Zero X  Pro Review: We interact with Infinix devices every time the company makes them available in the market. One of the devices we are always looking forward to is the ZERO series because Infinix always goes all in. This year, the company unveiled three devices in this series – the Infinix Zero X, Zero X Pro, and Zero X Neo.

Infinix does not mention when the Zero X and Zero X Neo will be available for purchase in Kenya. You can however buy the Infinix Zero X Pro which is also what we have been using for the last few weeks and it goes for about Ksh.37,000.

The Infinix Zero X Pro is the big brother here featuring some pretty exciting specs and features. The phone features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display and MediaTek Helio G95 among other features which we will be covering in this review.

We already did the unboxing video and in case you missed it you can check it below: The first impressions are good and you can tell that Infinix really put so much work into designing this phone.

Design and Display

Infinix ZERO X Pro Review

Straight out of the box the phone has quite a refreshing feeling with some well-done edges and a flat panel. Unlike curved glasses that we have seen a number of smartphone companies adopt in recent days, Infinix decided to go with a  flat AMOLED display which looks pretty good. I love this design because it makes it easier for you to hold the Infinix Zero X Pro in your hands despite the huge 6.7-inch screen size.

I also need to mention that the display has a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate which is really smooth.

The review unit we received was “Nebula Black” with a  starry Galaxy back and a dotted glass pattern which we really loved.

The branding on this phone is also really simple with only the Infinix logo on the back, placed in the bottom left corner. At the top of the back panel, is where the triple camera array along with an LED flash. The cameras do a pretty good job.

The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right side. The 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB-C charging port is at the bottom. The phone is also a Dual SIM and we also have a slot for a microSD card all located at the top left.

Infinix Zero X Pro Performance Review and battery Life

The Infinix Zero X uses XOS 7.6 operating system, which is based on Android 11. Doesn’t do much other than provide software tweaks to make things more. I mean it’s the same software we have seen in all previous Infinix devices. Infinix has however made the experience better, reducing the number of those annoying notifications we are used to.

The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G95. We initially thought the phone would come with a Helio G96, well, that was never the case. But again, the phone handles everything just fine. No lags or stuttering when switching between apps or even playing games.

The only frustration is with the in-display fingerprint sensor.  I have registered multiple fingerprints, removed them all, and tried again until I gave up and just decided to use a password. Quickly unlocking the phone with the fingerprint scanner is just impossible and I hope this is something that will be fixed with an update.

Having used a number of Infinix phones the battery life on the Infinix ZERO X is also not the best. We are getting a huge 5,000mAh battery which could not last me for more than 8 hours. Not really what I expected but the good thing is Infinix has added a 45W charging brick in the box which does its job really well. A 5-minutes top-up for example should be able to take you through a few hours.

Infinix Zero X Pro Camera Review

The cameras are probably one of the key selling point for this phone with The Super Moon Mode camera feature being the major highlight.  The Infinix Zero X Pro features a triple camera setup where the primary sensor is 108-megapixel compared to the 64-megapixel sensor we have on the Zero X model. The selfie camera is 16-megapixel.

Camera Benchmark test by Ubergizmo reveals that the phone beat some other devices including the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Vivo V21, Galaxy A52 among other devices. Ubergizmo even ranked it the best camera phone under $400.

We have a separate camera review article which you can check here.

Should you buy the Infinix Zero X Pro?

Infinix ZERO X Pro Review

The Infinix Zero X Pro is a pretty good looking device. It’s Infinix’s most premium device and Infinix made sure it gets everything right. Few things we liked: Improved software experience, good cameras, a sleek comfortable design, and the 120hz refresh rate.

Infinix however needs to work on some things like the fingerprint sensor which is very slow or at times just doesn’t work, and the battery performance which I feel should have been better.
