Huawei’s First 5G Device Mate 20X 5G Officially Launched

Huawei has finally launched their first 5G powered phone, Huawei Mate 20X 5G. The 5G powered Mate 20X is identical to the regular Mate 20X (launched back in October 2018), externally.

Huawei Mate 20X 5G sports a 7.2-inch display -much like a phablet, a triple camera on the back and a dew-drop notch that houses the selfie camera. For more stamina, the battery capacity has been topped up with more juice from 4200mAh in the regular Mate 20X to a 5000mAh battery capacity.

Internally the device features 8GB of RAM paired with a 512GB internal storage, a plus as compared to what Huawei Mate 20X offers. The primary camera is composed of a 40MP wide lens, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 20MP ultra-wide lens while the selfie camera is a 24MP lens. The main camera trio can record up to 2160p videos at 30fps.

Still powered by the Kirin 980 SoC, the Mate 20X 4G LTE modem has been swapped with Balong 5000 modem for 5G support.

In UAE the device has been announced today in partnership with Etisalat, a local telco service provider. Mate 20X 5G goes for 3,523 Dirham (around $950, around Ksh 97,000.)

China’s GlobalTimes, a state-owned media company, has reported the device will go on sale in China as from July 26th. In Italy, pre-orders are already open, and the device is set to hit the shelves as from July 22nd on Amazon Italy website.

In other countries, there’s no update as to when the device will roll out and the US ban can be the immediate reason as to why the global launch may be delayed.
