Yellow Card raises $40 million to grow stablecoin payments

Yellow Card has raised $40 million in a strategic funding round to broaden its stablecoin payment infrastructure and scale its Global USD Accounts platform, as demand for digital cross-border payment solutions continues to grow across emerging markets.
The round attracted investment from SC Ventures, the innovation and investment arm of Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital and other strategic investors. The latest raise brings Yellow Card’s total equity funding to more than $120 million.
Yellow Card said it will use the new funding to grow its Global USD Accounts platform, which gives businesses a single place to hold U.S. dollars, manage stablecoins, oversee treasury operations, and make or receive payments in local currencies across more than 50 countries. The investment will also help the company strengthen the stablecoin payment infrastructure that connects businesses to global markets, while supporting its expansion into Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.
Yellow Card’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Chris Maurice, said the investment highlighted growing confidence in stablecoin-based financial infrastructure and the role it can play in improving international payments.
He said the company is increasingly focused on connecting financial institutions to stablecoin payment rails, enabling businesses to access faster and more efficient cross-border transactions without relying solely on traditional correspondent banking networks.
Institutional investors backing the round also reflected on the increasing role of stablecoins in global payments.
Alex Manson, Chief Executive Officer of SC Ventures, noted that stablecoin adoption will depend on reliable infrastructure and practical business applications, adding that Yellow Card has built a platform capable of supporting businesses across Africa while positioning itself for international expansion.
“Sony Innovation Fund is actively investing across the web3 technology stack, and we are excited to back Yellow Card as it builds the stablecoin infrastructure layer that emerging markets need to move money faster, more reliably, and at global scale.” said Austin Noronha, Managing Director, Sony Ventures – US.
Since its establishment in 2019, Yellow Card has processed more than $10 billion in transactions through its platform and supports over 50 currencies. The company operates under licenses, registrations and regulatory approvals across 22 jurisdictions in Africa, Europe and North America, and has established partnerships with global payments companies including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Coinbase.
