Ride-hailing company Bolt has launched a global integration with ChatGPT, making its service available directly inside the AI chatbot for the first time and extending its reach to ChatGPT’s 900 million weekly users.
Through the integration, customers can interact with Bolt from within ChatGPT, where they can view an upfront price estimate for their journey, compare route options and check when their driver will arrive. The conversation also surfaces the best pickup point, which Bolt says helps reduce waiting time. Once a customer is ready to travel, the trip details transfer to the Bolt app, where the booking is completed.
The move comes as artificial intelligence increasingly becomes the primary channel through which travellers plan and book journeys. According to Accenture’s Consumer Pulse Research 2025, which surveyed 18,000 consumers across 14 countries, 80% of travellers globally now use AI tools for travel purposes, with more than half willing to let AI fully manage their travel arrangements.
Caroline Wanjihia, Regional Director for Rides Operations, Africa and South East Asia at Bolt, said the shift reflects changing consumer behaviour around planning and booking.
“People don’t plan their evening in five different apps anymore. A lot of that planning happens in one conversation with AI now,” Wanjihia said. “For years, booking a ride meant opening a dedicated ride-hailing app. As more everyday interactions take place through AI, we think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go.”
Payment will continue to be processed through the Bolt app at launch, though the company said it intends to add the ability to pay for rides directly inside ChatGPT in future.
