Showmax Slashes Mobile Subscription Prices in Kenya to Ksh 300

The reduced price is effective starting today

Showmax’s mobile exclusive subscription plan, Showmax Mobile, has received a 20 percent cut in Kenya. Showmax mobile subscribers will now pay Ksh 300, down from the previous Ksh 380.

The company made the commendable price cut move at a time when the pandemic has hit the local economy. Four counties around the country, including Nairobi, have been recently locked, further depressing the economy.

The price cut is to help its mobile subscribers continue to enjoy entertainment content on Showmax.

“We know that consumers are under pressure at the moment and we believe this change will be appreciated by our mobile customers as will the decision not to increase any of our other prices,” Yolisa Phahle, MultiChoice Group CEO for Connected Video, said in a statement.

The reduced price is effective starting today.

Other plans offered by the Multichoice-owned streaming platform remain unchanged. The standard Showmax plan costs Ksh 760, while Showmax Pro goes for KSh 2100. Showmax Pro Mobile costs Ksh 1050 per month. Showmax also offers promotional deals to attract new customers.

“We have our most exciting slate of Showmax Originals this year and look forward to more Kenyans enjoying our proudly African stories,” Phahle added.
