Xiaomi to Launch Its Own Chip next Week, on 29th

Xiaomi makes a myriad of devices. Away from smartphones, the company also makes wearables, IoT devices, soundbars, TVs, laptops, PC accessories, and more.

The company has also teased an incoming in-house “self-developed” chip on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. The product launch will be happening next week, Monday, March 29.

It certainly will not be the company’s first chip, however. Xiaomi launched its first in-house silicon in 2017, the Surge S1, a 2.2GHz Octa-core smartphone processor that powered the Mi 5c.

Perhaps, the upcoming chip could a successor to the Surge S1, since several Xiaomi executives talk of “Surge” and “Surged” on machine-translated posts on Weibo.
