Showmax Adds Five Local TV Channels on its Platform

Showmax subscribers can now live stream a total of ten news channels

Showmax, Multichoice’s streaming service, has bolstered its product offerings since the year started. With the introduction of Showmax Pro, Kenyans can now watch all Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and PSL games as well as a variety of sports events. That is on top of existing Showmax entertainment content which includes local and internal shows, and a couple of live TV channels.

But, the platform is now expanding the number of channels available on the platform with five new additions. The channels include:

  • K24 TV
  • KBC Channel 1
  • KTN Home
  • KTN News
  • NTV

The five channels will be accessible every day, 24 hours a day, by both Showmax and Showmax Pro subscribers. The channels are already available under the “Live Channels” section on Showmax via web and the mobile apps.

The additional five channels to its content catalog mean that Showmax now boasts a total of ten live TV channels. Channels that were previously available on the platform include Euronews, Newzroom Afrika, africanews, Trace Urban, and Trace Gospel.

“With the addition of these live channels, Showmax offers Kenyans a one-stop streaming destination featuring the best of international and Kenyan shows, movies and kids’ shows, the world’s best sport from SuperSport on our Pro plan and now, live streams of Kenya’s biggest channels,” said Yolisa Phahle, CEO of Connected Video at MultiChoice.

“We’re constantly working on new ways to improve the Showmax experience for our subscribers. Whether it’s M-Pesa payments or daily episodes of Maisha Magic favourites like Selina, Kina and Kovu as well as weekly episodes of Sol Family and Hullabaloo Estate, our local-first approach keeps our Kenyan subscribers top of mind.”
