Infinix HOT 7 Unboxing and Quick Thoughts

The Infinix HOT 7 started going sale in Kenya this month. Infinix actually unveiled two variants of the device, a 1GB/16GB variant that retails at Ksh.9,999 and the 2GB/32GB variant that is retailing at Ksh.10,999.

We shared details about the specs which you can read here.

We got a 2GB.32GB review unit from Infinix that we will be using for the next couple of weeks. In this article, we’re going to unbox the device and show you what you should expect should you decide to purchase the device. The phone can be purchased from Infinix’s X Mall the company’s authorized retailers from across the country.

The packaging comes in two boxes, you have the box that contains the phone and an extra box which is just a gift hamper. First-time buyers should be able to get the gift hamper when they purchase the device, not sure if this will be the trend throughout though.

In the box, you have the usual accessories which include:

  • The phone itself
  • Screen protector
  • User guide and some manual
  • USB Cable
  • Wall charger
  • Plastic case

The extra gift hamper box contains an Infinix Branded bag, a phone holder and a key holder.

The front features a 6.2-inch notched touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1500 pixels. Not the best display around but remember the HOT 7 is a budget device so this is don’t expect much.

The phone features a striking design, quite different from what we saw on its predecessor, the Infinix HOT 6.

The notch house the front camera the 8 megapixels front camera. The camera takes some good selfies, we will share sample images on our Instagram page which you can check out.

At the back, you have the Dual 13 + 8 megapixels vertical camera setup that is also capable of shooting videos in 1080p in 30fps. It is here that you also have the fingerprint scanner and the speakers.  The USB port is located at the bottom while the headphone jack is at the top.

The volume and power buttons are all located on the right side while the opposite side houses is empty. The back case is removable and this is where the separate slots for the two SIM cards and microSD card are also housed.

As I mentioned the overall design of the Infinix HOT 7 is good. Some good improvements from what we saw on the HOT 6. The device feels nice on touch and also fits perfectly well in your hands.

The device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek (MT6580P) processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space. With 32GB the Infinix HOT 7 is spacious enough to store your favourite apps and multimedia content.  It also comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box which is a bit disappointing. I hope the company plans to roll out an update to Android Pie.

The 4000mAh battery on the device should not disappoint and it’s one of the things I will be checking out when using the device. Will share my experience in my final review.

Well, I am excited about this phone, everything looks amazing and remember this is a budget smartphone so you shouldn’t expect much. Look out for my full review in the coming weeks.
