Mid-range OPPO A71 launches in Kenya for Ksh. 19,999/=.


A couple of weeks ago we told you that OPPO was planning to launch yet another smartphone in the Kenyan market. Known as the OPPO A71, the company described the mid-range handset as a speedy and sophisticated camera phone and as we told you in our previous article it had already been launched in other markets like the Philippines and India.

Now, the phone is available in Kenya. OPPO in partnership with Safaricom launched the device yesterday. The two companies say this launch is set to increase the smartphone penetration, fast-tracking Safaricom’s vision of driving digital inclusion in the country.

Speaking during the launch, OPPO Kenya Brand Director Mr. Jesse Wu said as camera phone Brand, OPPO is keen on strengthening connection with its customers and partners to meet the increasing demand of internet use in this market.

‘’We are aiming to offer more options of smartphone with high-quality standard and comprehensive functionality to fulfill the increasing demand of Kenyan consumers.’’ he said.

Should we be excited about the OPPO A71? Well, I will let you decide that. But the device has a metal body and comes in black or gold and sports a 5.2-inch display with HD resolution. It also comes with MediaTek MT6750 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. In terms of storage, The storage is only 16GB but you do have the option of expanding it for an additional 256 GB with a microSD card.

In terms of camera, the smartphone features a 13MP primary camera an f/2.2 aperture. The selfie snapper is 5MP. It also packs a 3,000 mAh battery and runs Android 7.1 Nougat with the company’s Color OS on top.

The launch of OPPO A71, is an addition to OPPO Kenya’s device portfolio which includes OPPO Neo 7, OPPO A37, OPPO A57, OPPO F1s and OPPO F3.

The device will be available in the country exclusively at Safaricom retail shops from today for Ksh. 19,999/=.
