Five lucky winners of Lumia’s Achieve More campaign, launched by Microsoft Mobile Devices earlier this year, were today feted at a grand finale party and treated to a colorful reception to celebrate their great wins.

During the event, the winners drove off in 5 luxurious Chevrolet Cruze saloon cars, all valued at KES 17 Million. The Chevrolet Cruze cars were the ultimate prize in the competition, which sought to encourage productivity among users by using Microsoft services.   Participants were required to buy any Lumia phone, send the IMEI number to 22860 to get into the draw.

The campaign was premised on Lumia’s value proposition of providing a device that integrates both work and play to enable users achieve a work life balance and in turn do more with their smartphones.

Throughout the 8-week campaign, consumers got the chance to learn more about the Lumia devices by utilizing the seamlessly integrated Microsoft Office experiences such OneDrive, OneNote, Skype, a free one year subscription to Office 365 and wide variety of applications in the store both free and paid for.  Thousands of entries were submitted and five luck winners emerged top driving off the General Motors distributed cars

Kennedy Ngige 35, a truck driver based in Kitale in Western Kenya, was perhaps the most doubtful of the winners and only yielded to the insistence by the Microsoft team notifying him of the win.

“I thought it was a hoax. I doubted the authenticity of the phone call and actually thought it was an attempt to defraud me. I had to go to the shop to verify before I could believe it,” said Ngige.

Presenting the cars to the winners, Microsoft Mobile Devices General Manager Mariam Abdullahi said, “We are indeed happy to fulfil our promise with the presentation of this unique salon cars to users that have gone ahead to achieve more and increase their productivity with our Lumia devices. I hope a lot more people will be inspired by this”.

A highly-elated Cornelius Kiprop, winner of the first car could not hide his joy as he shared his experience leading to the new status: “I couldn’t believe my luck. I saw a Lumia billboard in Nairobi and immediately participated in the competition after purchasing a Lumia 640. The device has increased my productivity greatly as I can access my documents from anywhere using OneDrive and I’m thankful to Microsoft for the car”.

But even as the curtains fell on the #AchieveMore consumer promotion, Microsoft continues to champion productivity through innovation and the company is keen on building smart devices capable of enriching the lives of users around the world.

“We shall continue with our commitment to combine the right hardware, software, services and apps with the right price to give people smartphones they can afford and be proud to use. Our vision is to ensure that as many consumers as possible can enjoy signature Microsoft experiences and achieve more in their lives,” Ms. Abdullahi said.
