Oppo’s last flagship device in the Find Series was last year’s Oppo Find X. The company didn’t provide a successor to this device in the whole of 2019. There were rumours on a successor probably Find Y, that was apparently patented. No further update has been provided since.
To me, it even seemed like the company had ditched the Find series entirely with the apparent replacement being the newly launched Oppo Reno Series. It rolled out flagship devices under the Reno series and has even added more devices to it spreading across different price points like with the new Oppo Reno 2F(review).
However, that does not mean it is the end of life for the Oppo Find series. A successor is coming out in Q1 2020 and will be known as the Oppo Find X2.
The company says the successor is already under the works and will be a ‘very interesting device.’ The phone will run next year’s flagship SoC – Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 – which means all we expect is a snappy high-performance device.
Aside from that, the cameras too will be aggressive, something that will be made possible due to the elemental technology baked in Qualcomm’s new flagship chipset. One of the main camera features announced by Qualcomm included two gigapixel processing technology.
For the camera hardware, Oppo Find X2 will use one of Sony’s top of the line sensor that is yet to be announced.
With the Snapdragon 865 SoC, Oppo promises that it will deliver a display with top-notch quality in terms of resolution, colour accuracy, refresh rate, as well as dynamic range.
To give it an ideal first-time impression, Oppo Find X2 will probably have something new to present that could wow potential buyers. Last year’s Oppo Find X featured the first pop-up selfie camera design which made the device bank a good reputation design-wise.
For the Find X2, I bet we should expect some radical innovations as well. Will it be the under-display camera? Many could probably assume so after the company showcased the same at the recently ended OPPO INNO DAY summit, an annual global technology convention organized by the Chinese company.
But meanwhile, let’s wait and see what Oppo has in store for us.
