OPPO launches Reno16 series in Kenya from Sh69,999

Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has launched its Reno16 series in Kenya. The two 5G models are priced between Sh69,999 and Sh79,999 and according to OPPO, they’re aimed at buyers who want a phone with standout styling.
The line-up includes the Reno16 5G, which retails at Sh79,999, and the Reno16 F 5G at Sh69,999. Both come in Pop White and Twilight Violet colours.
The phones feature what OPPO calls a “3D Pop Planet Design”, inspired by cosmic imagery. The Pop White edition uses a micro-lens technology to create a 3D nebula effect on the back panel that shifts with light and movement.
“Design has become an important part of how people express their individuality, and with the Reno16 Series, we wanted to bring that expression to life through a smartphone that stands out,” said Fredrique Achieng, PR manager at OPPO Kenya.
The OPPO Reno16 5G has a compact 6.32-inch display designed for one-handed use and an aluminium frame. The Reno16 F 5G has a larger 6.57-inch screen.
Both models have a one-piece back cover that flows into the camera module, which OPPO says reduces dust build-up around the lenses.
Pre-orders are open until November 4 through OPPO stores, authorised dealers and e-commerce platforms.
Buyers who pre-order will get OPPO wireless earbuds, a 10,000mAh power bank, six months of screen protection and three months of Google’s Gemini Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.
The launch comes as smartphone makers compete for Kenya’s growing mid-range market, where Chinese brands such as Tecno, Infinix, Samsung’s Galaxy A series and Xiaomi are battling for buyers upgrading to 5G devices.
