Bolt rewards top-performing drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa during Customer Service Week

Bolt has recognized its top-performing drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa for their commitment to customer service, rewarding them with fuel and vehicle service vouchers, tyres, and other incentives during Customer Service Week.
The recognition, held at the Nairobi Driver Engagement Center, brought together drivers who have been active on the ride-hailing platform for at least six months. The awards covered both car drivers and boda boda riders, highlighting their contribution to daily transport services across the two cities.
“Drivers are often the first and last point of contact in a ride-hailing journey, and their work directly shapes the experience a customer has. Customer Service Week gives us an opportunity to recognise that contribution in a practical way and acknowledge the commitment it takes to provide a reliable service day after day. Recognising drivers means recognising the time, effort and responsibility that goes into every journey, and the role they play in keeping our cities moving.” Said Arthur Gacharia, Senior Operations Manager at Bolt.
The awards formed part of a week of driver engagement activities, which included breakfast, T-shirts and reflector vests for drivers visiting the centre.
The recognition comes as Kenya’s ride-hailing industry faces ongoing challenges, including rising operating costs, road safety concerns, changing customer expectations and regulatory developments.
As part of its road safety efforts, Bolt partnered with the Kenya Red Cross over the past year to train 75 boda boda riders in first aid and emergency response. The programme is being monitored to assess its impact and identify expansion opportunities.
The company has also partnered with M-KOPA to help drivers transition to electric motorcycles. Through the arrangement, thousands of drivers have accessed electric bikes with lower upfront financing requirements and reduced running and maintenance costs compared with petrol-powered motorcycles. Bolt highlighted that seven in ten electric vehicles operating on its platform in Kenya are currently electric.
Bolt has also engaged driver representatives, policymakers and regulators on issues affecting drivers and the wider ride-hailing sector.
“Maintaining good ratings takes discipline, consistency and a strong commitment to our work. We appreciate Bolt for recognising our efforts and for investing in safety on the platform. We also thank the passengers who choose to ride with us every day. Their trust motivates us to keep improving and delivering a better experience for everyone.” Added Samson Ouma, one of the recognized drivers.
