Samsung showcases connected living at Sarit Centre

Samsung has offered discounts of up to 35 percent on selected devices as it pushes Kenyan consumers to buy into its connected-home ecosystem rather than single products.
The South Korean electronics maker ran a four-day Connected Living activation at Nairobi’s Sarit Centre, which closed on October 4. It paired live product demonstrations with price cuts across Safaricom, Carrefour, Hotpoint and its own Experience Store.
The showcase was built around SmartThings, Samsung’s platform that links compatible devices and lets users control selected TVs and home appliances from a smartphone.
The company used the demonstrations to tackle the hurdles that have slowed uptake of smart-home technology: compatibility between devices, setup and remote access.
Galaxy smartphones, watches and Buds were shown working together for communication and activity tracking. The TV display featured OLED, Mini LED and Crystal UHD models, with demonstrations of gaming and football-viewing functions.
Washing machines and refrigerators were also on show, with appliance monitoring and SmartThings controls run from a phone.
Retailers join offers
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 series carried promotional pricing at Safaricom and the Samsung Experience Store between October 2 and 4. Qualifying buyers received gifts including Galaxy Buds Core or a gym bag.
The mid-range Galaxy A-series, which makes up the bulk of Samsung’s volume in price-sensitive markets, was discounted by up to 20 percent at Safaricom and 10 percent at the Experience Store.
The steepest cuts went to wearables. The Watch8, Watch7, Watch Ultra and Galaxy Fit3 were marked down by up to 35 percent, each with a 12-month warranty.
On appliances, Carrefour offered 25 percent off selected washing machines and washer-dryers. Hotpoint cut prices on selected refrigerators by up to 25 percent, covering top-mount and side-by-side models.
Carrefour priced the 305-litre RT31CG5421S9 refrigerator at Sh87,990 and the 348-litre RT35CB56218A at Sh94,990 after a 25 percent discount. Both carry a 24-month warranty.
The promotion coincided with Samsung’s Service Month, during which the firm is marketing its Samsung Care+ cover, warranty terms and after-sales support for eligible devices.
After-sales support has become a key battleground for premium electronics brands in Kenya, where buyers weigh repair and warranty assurance heavily against upfront cost.
