Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, bringing a new 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset, Android 17 and One UI 9 to its Fan Edition range. The phone also puts more attention on Galaxy AI, with new camera, image editing and everyday assistance features built into the software experience.
The Galaxy S26 FE retains several familiar specifications from its predecessor, including a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging. Samsung has also committed to seven generations of operating system updates and seven years of security updates, while buyers will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro.
Samsung Galaxy S26 FE brings a new chipset and One UI 9
The Exynos 2500 is the most significant hardware change in the Galaxy S26 FE. Built on a 3nm process, the chipset uses newer CPU cores than the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S25 FE, while its AMD RDNA 3-based GPU has 33% more work groups. Its NPU also has 40% more compute hardware, giving Samsung additional processing capacity for AI workloads.
The software package is equally notable. The Galaxy S26 FE runs Android 17 with One UI 9 out of the box, making it the first model in the Galaxy S26 series to launch with that software combination .
Samsung is also bringing several features that previously appeared on its premium flagship devices into the Fan Edition experience. That gives the S26 FE a software package that goes beyond the basic hardware specification.
Galaxy AI takes a bigger role in the FE experience
Much of Samsung’s attention with the Galaxy S26 FE is on how AI can handle practical tasks. The phone brings several Galaxy AI features into the camera, Gallery and information-management experience, including tools that can edit images, improve video and organise information based on natural-language instructions.
My FanCam and Horizon Lock
My FanCam is designed for video captured in the Gallery. It can automatically track a person by zooming in and keeping them centred in the frame, which can be useful when recording someone moving through a scene.
Horizon Lock takes a different approach to stabilising video. The feature keeps footage level even when the phone rotates through a full 360 degrees while recording. Samsung is also upgrading Nightography for video, with the company promising brighter, higher-quality footage when recording in darker conditions.
These features give the camera software more responsibility during and after recording, particularly for users who regularly shoot moving subjects or handheld video.
Photo Assist and smarter Now Brief
Photo Assist lets users make image edits using natural-language instructions. A user can ask the phone to change a background, switch an image from day to night, or add and remove objects from a photograph.
One UI 9 also expands Now Brief, allowing users to create text widgets using plain-language commands. The supplied examples include weather, health and video-related requests, with the system able to turn a request into a customised card inside Now Brief.
The S26 FE also brings Gemini Live capabilities that can use what the camera sees to help with everyday tasks, while Gemini Omni can turn a collection of photographs into a video.
Familiar display, battery and camera hardware
The Galaxy S26 FE has a 6.7-inch 1080p+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. The phone uses a 4,900mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
The camera configuration remains familiar, with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. There is also a 12MP front-facing camera.
That combination gives the S26 FE a hardware platform that will be recognisable to owners of the previous Fan Edition model, while the new chipset and software provide much of the additional functionality.
Seven years of software support and Google AI Pro
Samsung is continuing its long software-support commitment with the Galaxy S26 FE. The phone will receive seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security patches.
The company is also including a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which is valued at $120 and includes 5TB of cloud storage. The supplied launch information notes that Samsung previously reserved this benefit for its Z foldable devices, making its inclusion with an S series phone notable.
The combination of long-term software support and the bundled Google AI Pro subscription gives the S26 FE a longer software story beyond its initial launch.
Galaxy S26 FE price, colours and availability
The Galaxy S26 FE will be available in Blueberry, Pistachio and Graphite, with 128GB and 256GB storage options. The base model starts at $699, which is $50 higher than the launch price of the 128GB Galaxy S25 FE.
Sales begin on September 4.
For Kenya, Samsung’s local launch is expected in the coming weeks, although the local date and other market-specific details have not yet been finalised. The global announcement therefore provides the first complete look at the device, while Kenyan pricing and availability will need to wait for Samsung’s local launch announcement.
The Galaxy S26 FE arrives with a familiar physical foundation, but Samsung has given the model a new processor and a much broader set of AI-powered software features. The result is an FE device where the details inside One UI 9 and the camera software are almost as important to the story as the specification sheet.
