KCB Foundation Unveils Digital Programme to Connect 30,00 Dairy Farmers to Financial Services and Markets

KCB Foundation has launched the Farmer Visibility (FaVi) initiative, a digital empowerment programme targeting 30,000 smallholder farmers across Kenya. The nine-month initiative, implemented in partnership with KCB Bank Kenya and Heifer International Kenya, aims to strengthen financial inclusion, expand market access and accelerate the digital transformation of the country’s dairy value chain.

The programme will provide participating farmers with digital entities designed to increase their visibility within formal agricultural systems. Through these digital profiles, farmers will be expected to build reliable transaction records, improve access to financial products and strengthen their participation in structured dairy markets.

The initiative will be rolled out through 60 dairy cooperatives and farmers producer organizations across Kenya’s Central, Rift Valley and Western regions. It will also focus on improving financial literacy, digitizing farmer transactions, enhancing dairy productivity and increasing access to savings, credit, insurance and input financing.

Speaking during the launch, KCB Foundation Managing Director Mendi Njonjo highlighted the programme’s role in strengthening agricultural resilience through digital innovation and financial inclusion.

“We are building resilient agricultural systems where smallholder farmers are visible, financially empowered, digitally connected, and fully integrated into formal markets. Through the Farmer Visibility initiative, we are combining digital innovation, financial inclusion and practical agricultural support to help farmers increase productivity and improve household incomes.” Said Mendi Njonjo, Managing Director, KCB Foundation.

The Farmer Visibility Initiative seeks to address longstanding barriers that have limited smallholder farmers’ access to formal financial services. By digitizing financial and commercial transactions, the programme is expected to strengthen farmers’ financial records, enabling easier access to credit and other financial products while improving transparency across the dairy value chain.

The partnership also reflects ongoing efforts to modernize Kenya’s agricultural sector through technology driven solutions. By integrating digital tools, financial services and agricultural support into a single ecosystem, the initiative is expected to improve productivity, strengthen market participation and contribute to a more inclusive and resilient dairy industry while supporting sustainable income growth for thousands of smallholder dairy farmers across the country.
