Gebeya AI Services Join the M-PESA Ethiopia Mini App Ecosystem


M-PESA Ethiopia has expanded its digital services by partnering with Gebeya Inc. the Ethiopian technology company to introduce AI powered tools on its mobile platform, allowing customers to purchase and access artificial intelligence services directly through M-PESA App.

The new integration will bring Gebeya Data Studio Mini App to the M-PESA Mini App Ecosystem, making another step in the mobile providers strategy to broaden its platform beyond financial transactions. The services will enable users to pay for AI tool bundles using M-PESA and access a range of generative AI capabilities designed for education, software development, digital content creation and business applications.

The partnership between these two companies is targeting a diverse user base, including students, software developers, entrepreneurs, businesses and digital creators who are seeking accessible AI powered solutions. Through Gebeya, Dala Platform, users can leverage artificial Intelligence to develop websites, applications, games, videos, music and other digital products, supporting productivity and innovations across multiple sectors.

To use the services, customers are required to register for a Gebeya Dala account before accessing the Gebeya Dala AI Mini App within the M-PESA App. After selecting an AI service package, payment is completed through Mpesa, after which users receive a SMS containing a voucher code that can be redeemed on the Gebeya Dala platform to activate AI credits.

As the part of the launch, very successful AI bundle purchase will also include 1GB of complimentary Safaricom data, providing customers with additional connectivity to access the platform and its AI powered services.

The collaboration is aligning with M-PESA Ethiopia’s broader digital ecosystem strategy, which focuses on integrating value added digital services into its mobile platform while leveraging secure payment infrastructure. The company also continues to position its Mini App platform as a gateway for customers to access a growing portfolio of digital solutions beyond mobile money services.

The integration is also expected to contribute to wider AI adoption in Ethiopia by reducing access barriers to advanced digital technologies. By combining secure mobile payments with AI enabled services, the partnership provides individuals, startups and even businesses with a more accessible pathway to adopt AI tools for learning, creativity, software development and business innovations.
