Afreximbank, Government of St Kitts and Nevis Seal Deal to Host Fifth AfriCaribbean Trade Forum
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has formalized its partnership with the Government of St Kitts and Nevis to host the fifth edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2026).
The forum is scheduled to run from July 29 to 31, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort, Casino & Spa in Basseterre, bringing together governments, investors, private sector leaders, development finance institutions, entrepreneurs, and diaspora stakeholders from across the Atlantic.
Speaking on the occasion, Afreximbank President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr George Elombi, described the forum as a moment of recommitment for the Global Africa community. “ At the fifth edition of ACTIF, we will once again reunite with our fellow Africans across the Atlantic to reflect on our shared development challenges and to recommit to the implementation of strategic programs that will advance our collective aspiration for self-determination and self- reliance. Through ACTIF2026, we will identify priority projects and programmes and dedicate ourselves to effective execution. This will be the pathway to our shared economic development,” he said.
St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance M Drew described ACTIF2026 as a catalyst that would open lasting trade and investment pathways benefiting citizens across both regions and the broader African continent for generations to come.
“We are honoured to host the fifth edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum. This agreement signals our strong commitment to strengthening economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean. We are not just a beautiful destination; we are a gateway for investment, a hub for enterprise, and a proud partner in the Renaissance of Africans. ACTIF2026 will serve as a catalyst for trade and investment, creating new opportunities for our people and business,” he added.
Additionally, delegates attending ACTIF2026 can expect a packed programme of high-level panel discussions on regional trade, investment exploration sessions, and networking opportunities with key stakeholders driving Africa-Caribbean economic cooperation.
The forum’s significance is underscored by a growing track record of tangible outcomes. At its 2025 edition, ACTIF delivered five Caribbean deals adding up to USD 291.25 million across three countries, spanning trade and investment finance, corporate finance, project preparation, and export development.
Since establishing its Barbados office two years ago, Afreximbank has approved more than USD 700 million in financing across the CARICOM region. The bank’s portfolio spans climate adaptation efforts in Saint Lucia, sports infrastructure and tourism development in Barbados, SME financing in the Bahamas, tourism projects in Grenada, and oil and gas initiatives in Suriname, reflecting the breadth of its regional engagement.
Now in its fifth year, ACTIF has grown into the premier platform for mobilizing capital, building partnerships, and accelerating economic integration between Africa and the Caribbean; a forum that continues to translate shared heritage into shared economic opportunity.
