OpenWay Taps Francophone Africa to Power Banks With Way4 Payments
The payments software firm is setting up a local team and signing major partnerships to support banks and fintechs in the region.

OpenWay, a global provider of digital payment software, is widening its footprint in Francophone Africa with the launch of its Way4 platform for banks and fintechs across the region.
The expansion includes a long-term technology partnership with a leading tier-1 bank in Morocco to support its digital transformation plans. Way4, already used by financial players like Equity Bank in Kenya and fintech SanuPay in Ethiopia, enables institutions to deliver real-time, digital-first payment services 24/7.
The platform’s architecture supports a wide range of products on a single system — from cards and digital wallets to account-to-account transfers, merchant services, cryptocurrencies, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). OpenWay says this unified approach allows financial institutions to speed up time-to-market while ensuring high levels of security, compliance, and operational scalability.
To strengthen its position, OpenWay is establishing a dedicated local team in Francophone North Africa. Clients in Morocco and Tunisia will gain access to regional service and expertise backed by the company’s global delivery network. This local capacity will be supported by collaboration with partners and professionals from sub-Saharan Africa.
By combining local presence with its global technology, OpenWay aims to give banks and fintechs in Francophone Africa the tools to compete in a rapidly evolving payments landscape.
