London-based fintech Unlimit secures PSP licence to expand into Tanzania


Global fintech company Unlimit is launching its payments services in Tanzania, further expanding its presence in Africa.

The firm announced on Tuesday that it has received regulator approval from the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) to operate as an authorised payment service provider in the country. 

The launch of operations in Tanzania marks the issuing of its third African licence since 2023, following licence approvals in Nigeria and Kenya.

We are building for the long-term,” he added. 

Unlimit is a London-based global fintech offering advanced payment capabilities through an evolving financial interface to startups and businesses across the globe.  Founded in 2009, the firm offers a large portfolio of financial services – from acquiring (payment processing) to banking and banking as a service.

By launching operations in a third African country, Unlimit said in a statement that it has underscored its continued commitment to enhancing its presence and investment in the region by expanding the reach of its proprietary payment infrastructure across the continent. The addition of this infrastructure will it said will remove existing barriers to regional and global trade for the country’s entrepreneurs, as it continues to work towards its mission of eliminating financial borders around the world.
