Kenya’s August 9 elections special hashflag now live on Twitter
Kenyans will be going to the polls on August 9, 2022. Ahead of the elections, the country has gotten its own hashflag when you use the hashtag #KenyaDecides on Twitter.
Hashflags are basically images that appear after a #hashtag and are enabled on Twitter for specific occasions or events.
Just like what we do with hashtags, hashflags are a way to connect your Twitter posts and threads about the same topics. In this case, the upcoming general elections in Kenya.
The first time we actually saw Twitter roll out Hashflags was during 2010 World Cup when the micro-blogging site made custom emojis for the different competing nations. Since then, the feature has been largely used for major events including product releases.
