WhatsApp is working on ‘Pin On Top’’ and ‘unsend’ features

If you use WhatsApp a lot then you know how the conversation lists get pretty crowded, especially with groups. This makes you miss some of the most important chats.

WhatsApp now wants to make it easy for you to remember these important chats. The messaging service is working on a new feature that will let you pin your favorite chats on top. The pin on top feature is available on Twitter and Facebook so we should not be surprised that WhatsApp wants to follow suit.

The Pinned chats feature is currently on WhatsApp beta 2.17.162 (and now 163). To get a pin icon in the action bar next to the delete, mute, and archive functions, just tap and hold on any chat. Once pinned, this conversation will stay on top of other conversations. The feature only allows you to pin three chats, after a which a notification will be sent telling you-you can’t pin anymore. Again if you feel you need to pin a different chat, you can always unpin one of your chats and select a different one.

Again as I said, the feature is currently just available on WhatsApp beta 2.17.162 (and now 163). If you want to get this feature you can always get one from the Play Store by joining the official beta here then waiting for the app to update.

WhatsApp is also said to be working on an ‘unsend’ feature that will now let users delete embarrassing messages before they are read.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature is being tested as part of WhatsApp’S latest beta release for before it is rolled out to its iOS and Android apps. The feature once rolled out will allow users to edit and ‘unsend; messages within five minutes of sending them. This means the message will be removed from the receiver’s phone before they’ve had a chance to see it. Interesting, right?

Again, we are not sure when the ‘unsend’ feature will be rolled out to everyone, but WABetaInfo reports that it is likely to arrive next month after Apple’s next iOS release.
