One of the key features of messaging service WhatsApp is group messaging. Well, personally I am not a fan of these groups so I am always forced to mute them. If you are like me, then you are definitely not going to like this new feature from WhatsApp. The Facebook-owned messaging service has quietly rolled out a new feature that lets you tag people in group chats.
This new update will now make it possible for you to be able to receive a notification even if you’ve muted a conversation. It works both for Android and iOS
Of course not so many people are going to like this especially if you in one of those uninvited groups. But again it will come in handy when you have a question to one specific person in a large chat group. It is also going to make it easier to keep the conversation alive with multiple contacts.
To tag someone, simply enter the ‘@’ symbol, followed by their name and choose a contact from the menu that pops up. You can as well tag multiple contacts in a single message.
Could this be the most annoying feature from WhatsApp? Well, I hope this feature could help make people less annoying in group chats.
This new update comes just a few months after the messaging service added a feature that allows users to quote messages in group chats. It also increased group sizes from 100 to 256 members allowing more people to be added to groups.
