Samsung Galaxy A27 performance feels solid, with battery life to match

Samsung’s Galaxy A27 5G feels most convincing when you use it the way most people actually use a phone: jumping between apps, browsing, streaming, messaging and occasionally asking the hardware to handle something heavier. The move to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, combined with 6GB/8GB of RAM, gives the A27 a more capable foundation for everyday multitasking.

The improvement is noticeable when moving between common applications. Apps open reliably, switching between tasks feels comfortable and the phone has enough memory to keep everyday workloads moving without constantly forcing applications to reload. The 8GB model provides additional breathing room for users who tend to keep several applications open at once.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 gives the A27 more breathing room

The switch from Samsung’s previous Exynos platform to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is one of the more important changes in the Galaxy A27.

Benchmark results place the phone ahead of its predecessor in several areas, although the numbers do not put it in flagship territory. Their practical value becomes clearer during normal use, where the A27 has enough processing headroom for social media, web browsing, video streaming, navigation and communication without feeling overwhelmed.

The 6GB base configuration also gives the A27 a stronger starting point than the previous generation, while the 8GB version is better suited to users who regularly move between several demanding applications.

Multitasking is where the upgrade makes sense

The Galaxy A27 handles the ordinary rhythm of a smartphone well. You can move from Chrome to WhatsApp, open a video, return to another application and continue working without the phone constantly getting in the way.

That matters because most smartphone workloads are rarely about running one demanding application continuously. They involve dozens of small tasks throughout the day, and the A27’s combination of Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and One UI 8.5 gives it enough headroom to handle that routine comfortably.

There can still be moments when the interface takes a little longer to respond, particularly when the phone is under heavier workloads, but those instances don’t define the overall experience.

The 5,000mAh battery is one of its strengths

Samsung gives the Galaxy A27 a familiar 5,000mAh battery, and the combination of that capacity with the newer Snapdragon platform produces respectable endurance.

The phone recorded an Active Use Score of 12 hours and 40 minutes, which represents a useful improvement over the previous generation. That gives the A27 enough stamina for a substantial day of mixed use, depending on how heavily you rely on mobile data, gaming, photography and other demanding tasks.

Web browsing is one of the weaker areas in the battery testing, so the endurance shouldn’t be interpreted as exceptional across every type of workload. For a normal mixture of communication, social media, streaming and general smartphone use, however, the battery performs well.

Charging remains conservative

The Galaxy A27 supports 25W wired charging, which is functional but increasingly modest for a phone in this segment.

The battery reaches roughly 50 percent in about 30 minutes, while a full charge takes around 88 minutes. That is perfectly manageable if you charge the phone during predictable periods of the day, although users accustomed to faster charging will notice the difference.

Samsung appears to have prioritised dependable endurance over pushing charging speeds, and the 5,000mAh battery means the A27 doesn’t need to be constantly connected to a charger during normal use.

A balanced everyday performer

The Galaxy A27’s performance story is therefore fairly straightforward. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 gives it a stronger platform for everyday multitasking, while the 6GB and 8GB RAM configurations provide enough capacity for the workloads most users are likely to throw at it.

Battery life complements that experience, with the 5,000mAh cell and improved efficiency delivering a respectable 12-hour-plus Active Use Score. The 25W charging system is slower than what some competitors offer, but the phone’s endurance means that limitation is less disruptive during normal use.

For buyers looking for a Samsung phone that can comfortably handle everyday multitasking and last through a substantial day, the Galaxy A27 makes a solid case for itself. Its performance gains are most apparent in ordinary use, which is exactly where a mid-range smartphone needs to deliver.

Price and availability in Kenya

The Galaxy A27 5G is available through Samsung Experience Stores, the Samsung Brand Store and authorised retailers such as PhonePlace Kenya in Black, Blue, Light Green and Light Pink.

Current pricing already varies across sellers. On Samsung’s Brand Store, the 6GB/128GB model is listed at KSh39,500, while the 8GB/256GB version is priced at KSh44,900.

At PhonePlace Kenya, the 6GB/128GB Galaxy A27 starts from around KSh31,000, making it worth comparing prices across authorised retailers before deciding whether to stay with the A27 or stretch to the Galaxy A37.
