How Equity Mobile Fits Into Everyday Banking in Kenya

Banking has become part of everyday life rather than an activity reserved for a trip to the branch. Whether it’s paying school fees before work, sending money to family, checking whether a salary has been credited or settling a supplier’s invoice, many customers now expect to handle these tasks from their smartphones. Equity Mobile is designed around that expectation, bringing together payments, savings, borrowing and account management in one application for customers across Kenya.

Available on Android and iPhone, Equity Mobile is Equity Bank Kenya’s flagship mobile banking app. It replaced the former Eazzy Banking app and continues to receive updates that expand its capabilities while giving customers greater control over how they manage their finances.

For many users, the first interaction with the app starts with something simple like checking an account balance. From there, Equity Mobile opens the door to a much broader range of banking services.

Customers can monitor transaction history, download account statements and payment receipts, and even open a new Equity Bank account directly through the app. Those with multiple eligible accounts can manage them from a single dashboard, making it easier to keep track of day-to-day finances.

Money transfers are equally straightforward. The app supports transfers between Equity accounts, real-time transfers to other Kenyan banks through PesaLink, and transfers to mobile wallets such as M-PESA and Airtel Money. Customers can also pay utility bills, school fees, government services and merchants, purchase airtime and data bundles, or make QR code payments without leaving the app.

The strength of Equity Mobile lies in how it supports different types of customers.

A busy parent can settle school fees, pay electricity bills and send money to relatives before leaving home. University students can monitor their spending and manage everyday expenses from campus. Small business owners can make supplier payments, collect money using QR codes and manage business transactions without interrupting their workday.

Customers looking to build healthier financial habits can also use Goal Savings and Savings Challenges to set targets and track progress over time. Those who qualify for credit can check loan eligibility, apply for Eazzy Loans and repay existing facilities directly from the app.

For business users, additional features such as bulk payments, self-managed transaction limits and float purchases through approved agents provide extra flexibility without requiring a branch visit.

Equity Mobile also serves customers whose financial lives extend beyond Kenya.

One of the app’s standout capabilities is its integration with PayPal. Eligible customers can link their PayPal accounts, view balances and withdraw funds directly into their Equity Bank accounts. For freelancers, software developers, designers, consultants, online sellers and digital creators working with international clients, this offers a convenient way to access earnings without switching between multiple platforms.

The app also supports Western Union services, allowing eligible customers to send international transfers, receive remittances into their Equity accounts or access funds through Western Union’s global network. Together, PayPal and Western Union provide practical options for managing different types of cross-border payments from within the same banking platform.

As digital banking grows, protecting customer accounts remains just as important as convenience.

Equity Mobile supports fingerprint and facial recognition login on compatible devices, encrypted transactions and one-time password verification for sensitive activities. Customers can temporarily block a misplaced debit card through the app, helping reduce the risk of unauthorised use while they decide on the next steps.

The bank also encourages customers to stay alert by never sharing their PIN, password or one-time password with anyone. As part of its ongoing fraud awareness efforts, Equity advises customers that official support calls come only from 0763 000 000. Keeping the app updated and reviewing account activity regularly also helps strengthen account security.

New customers can download Equity Mobile from Google Play or the Apple App Store, select Register and follow the prompts to create an account using the required identification details.

Existing Equity Bank customers can sign in using their banking credentials, update their password where required and enable biometric login for quicker future access.

Customers using feature phones can also continue accessing many banking services through the bank’s *247# USSD service.

Today’s banking needs go beyond deposits and withdrawals. Customers expect one platform that can help them manage household expenses, run businesses, receive international payments and stay in control of their finances wherever they are.

Equity Mobile brings those services together in one place. From everyday payments and transfers to savings tools, business features, PayPal and Western Union integrations, the app supports a wide range of financial needs without requiring customers to move between different channels.

As more people choose digital banking for routine transactions, Equity Mobile offers a practical way to keep essential banking services within easy reach while maintaining control over how money is managed.

The Equity Mobile App is accessible to both Android and iOS users in Kenya.
