OPPO Reno6 5G: Our Three Favourite Features

OPPO’s first 5G device in the market, the OPPO Reno6, went on sale in the Kenyan market four weeks ago. A successor to the OPPO Reno5, the Reno6 5G is retailing at Ksh.60,000 and comes with some pretty interesting features.

The phone comes with leading industry features. It is a decent upgrade from its predecessor the OPPO Reno5. It features a 6.43-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) flat AMOLED display and supports 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate among other features.

The phone has been our daily driver since it was launched. We already did the unboxing video which you can check below.

In this article, we tell you our three favorite features on the device.

Reno Glow Design

The Reno Glow design is one of those features that OPPO Kenya was making so much noise about when it started sending out teasers about the OPPO Reno6 5G. OPPO inaugurated all-new Reno Glow technology on the Reno 4 back in 2020.

Reno Glow was conceptualized and developed entirely by the OPPO’s very own R&D team, and is among the company’s more than 21,000 granted patents and 52,000 filed patent applications globally.

Reno Glow technology is a unique diamond cutting technique applied on glass that gives the Reno6 5G a transparent, yet dazzling tone on the back cover.

According to OPPO, the Reno Glow technique involves three layers. Firstly, the Crystal drilling technique forms millions of micron-level prisma crystal pits on the surface of glass that glow under light, giving the effect of a million twinkling stars. An enhanced Suspended coating technique reduces the size of color particles in the glass by 70% and increases the color accuracy by 16 times, giving it a smooth, gradient effect.

OPPO upgraded the Reno Glow on the Reno6 5G, giving the phone a fresh new look and energetic shine when viewed from different angles.

Battery Life and Fast Charging – The best you can get

Here is the thing, I have nearly all the phones in the OPPO Reno series and one thing that has alway stood out has been the battery and fast charging. The OPPO Reno6 5G offers the best battery experience I have ever seen on a smartphone.

The phone comes with a 4,300 mAh battery and OPPO has added a 65W SuperVOOC 2.0  charger in the box. Reno6 5G can be 100% charged in 28 minutes. I mean how cool is that? With the 65W charger, you’re assured by the time you are out of the shower or from fixing a cup of tea, the phone will have taken in enough juice to last you an entire day. OPPO Reno6 5G delivers speedy performance with balanced power consumption.

OPPO Reno6 5G Review
OPPO Reno6 5G

OPPO decided to go with the Dimensity 900 5G for the Reno6 and the performance is quite good. Throughout the entire time we have been using this phone, we faced no issues while multitasking. Switching between apps is quite fast and easy with no lags thanks to the 8GB of RAM we have on our review unit.

The processor is also fast enough to handle graphics. The OPPO Reno6 5G is actually the first phone on the market to feature this processor.

We have a separate article on the cameras coming up where we will be sharing all our favorite photos we took with the phone.
