TECNO is partnering with a top Hollywood movie star for CAMON 17 Launch in Kenya

TECNO Mobile has announced plans to launch its latest device in the CAMON series, the TECNO Camon 17, in the Kenyan market soon.

The company has already been sending out teasers about the device through its social media platforms although it does not really mention the exact date it intends to launch the device.

TECNO is also rumoured to have partnered with a top Hollywood movie star for this launch who will act as TECNO’s Brand Ambassador. We are not sure who this top Hollywood actor is but with it TECNO says it will be bringing Hollywood to Kenya with the CAMON SuperHero.

The company is expected to reveal the star on May 30th.

Over the years, TECNO Mobile has over the years continued to grow its brand presence and appeal with consumers.  Partnering with Hollywood is therefore a good move for the company as it continues to cement its presence in the market.

The CAMON 17 smartphone or the superhero phone as TECNO calls it is the successor to the CAMON 16 that TECNO launched in August last year. It’s also the first device we’re seeing from the company this year. The CAMON boasted a number of interesting specs which is what we should also be expecting with the CAMON 17. A signatory to the TECNO Camon brand has been cameras so we should also be looking forward to that.

The launch comes as Transsion Group owned brand toppled Samsung as Africa’s top smartphone brand according to Counterpoint Research.

The research notes that TECNO managed to replace Samsung as Africa’s top smartphone brand for the first time in 2020, riding on a successful launch of models in the affordable segment and continued market spending.

TECNO achieved this feat against the backdrop of a 6.7% YoY fall in Africa’s smartphone shipments in 2020.
