Unlike the previous Fold, Samsung says it will bring more Galaxy Z Fold2 devices in Kenya

Samsung will bring more Galaxy Z Fold2 devices in the Kenyan market. This, according to Charles Kimari, head of mobile division at Samsung Kenya is to avoid the previous case where the Fold was sold out immediately after launch.

Last year, Samsung brought only 24 pieces of the Galaxy Fold and were being sold at Kshs 230,000. We should, however, expect to see more pieces of the Galaxy Z Fold2 being made available in the Kenyan market.

‘’The Fold is one of our premium devices and we could have underestimated the market with the previous Fold,’’ Charles said.

‘’Come the Z Fold2, we are determined to make sure that we have double the quantity to make sure the market is covered end to end,’’ he added.

Galaxy Z Fold2 is among the devices Samsung unveiled during its recent Unpacked event. The phone is the company’s third and most advanced foldable smartphone after the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip.

It comes with a 7.6-inch Infinity-O Display as its primary screen, while the cover screen that is also an Infinity-O Display, is of 6.2 inches. This is a complete upgrade over the 7.3-inch and 4.6-inch displays we saw on the Galaxy Fold.

Remember the first Galaxy Fold had a rocky start at launch, with several review units breaking prompting the company to recall all the units. The company later pushed forward the launch date to an indefinite date to redesign the fold and iron out the weak points, after which they relaunched it.

The Galaxy Z Fold2 has however been re-engineered to address some of the key issues seen on the Galaxy Fold. There are over 60 components in the hinge to provide improvements. The phone comes with a “sweeper,” which Samsung claims can help clean dust and debris out from the hinge using elastic fibres.

Samsung also recently claimed it has already sold 1 million units of the Galaxy Fold. This was the first time Samsung has revealed sales figures of the Fold. Let’s look forward to the new Fold Kenyan market launch.
