Huawei Y6p vs TECNO Pouvoir 4: What’s the difference?

Huawei Y6p vs TECNO Pouvoir 4: Huawei Y6p and TECNO Pouvoir 4 are the new entrants in the budget segment both priced at KES 14,999. With similar pricing, choosing one over the other might be challenging but it doesn’t have to be. In this article, we dissect through each phone’s spec sheet to unravel the major differences between the Huawei Y6p and the TECNO Pouvoir 4.

Design

Huawei Y6p ships with a glossy design that screams premium although it’s crafted from polycarbonate. The same case applies to TECNO Pouvoir 4. On the back of both phones is a centrally placed fingerprint sensor on the upper half. Camera lenses on the front are housed in a drop notch on both phones but the rear ones in a rectangular camera bump. Huawei Y6p comes in Phantom Purple, Emerald Green, and Midnight Black while TECNO Pouvoir 4 is available in Cosmic shine, Ice Jadeite, and Fascinating purple.

Display

Huawei Y6p: 6.3 inches notched HD+ (720 x 1600 pixels), 20:9 aspect ratio and 81.3% screen-to-body ratio

TECNO Pouvoir 4: 7-inch notched HD+(720 X 1604 pixels), 20.9:5 aspect ratio and 90.55% screen to body ratio.

The display has a similar resolution but Huawei Y6p’s display delivers better clarity because of its relatively smaller size. TECNO Pouvoir 4 offers a bigger area, though, which suits binging movies and TV Shows and everything else. A 7-inch display isn’t small in any way. Remember phablet? This is the most suitable term here since Pouvoir 4 has a big display that is a few inches ahead of most big-screen smartphones available on the market.

Camera

Huawei Y6p – Trio Rear Camera Setup: 13 MP (wide, f/1.8 aperture) + 5 MP (Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2 aperture) + 2 MP (depth, f/2.4 aperture): 8 MP, f/2.0 selfie camera

TECNO Pouvoir 4 – Quad Rear camera setup: 13MP(wide, f/1.8) + 2MP(depth) + 2MP(macro) + AI lens: 8MP selfie camera

On the camera front, Huawei Y6p has three lenses while TECNO Pouvoir 4 has four although the last one is merely dedicated to AI enhancements. Both phones have a 13MP f/1.8 main camera, and a 2MP depth camera. TECNO offers an additional macro and AI lens while Huawei Y6p has an additional 5MP wide-angle lens.

Conclusion

To choose between the two it boils down to what really matters to you and here’s why. Huawei Y6p offers a slightly better display, offers double internal storage, and is in the company of a considerably enough battery capacity. Pick the Huawei Y6p if these features are what really matters to you.

TECNO Pouvouir 4 wins on the display department in terms of size, and the massive 6,000mAh battery meant to power on the large display. TECNO says it can last up to 4 days, but we’ll see about that when we get hands-on experience with the device(stay tuned for that).

Pouvoir 4 also has a dedicated Google Assistant button on top of the typical volume up/down and power down button. There are also dual stereo speakers’ which can’t be assumed on the spec sheet.

On the other side of the coin, Huawei Y6p doesn’t ship with Google apps if that really does matter to you. On TECNO Pouvoir 4’s side, the main bummer comes in the small 32GB default internal storage space. Unlike the Pouvoir 4, Huawei Y6p is offering 64GB for the same price.
