TECNO Pouvoir 4: Our Three Favorite Features

The TECNO Pouvoir 4 is the latest device from TECNO Mobile’s Pouvoir series to hit the local market.

TECNO is selling this device for Ksh.14,999 and at that price you are getting a 7-inch HD+ Drop Display, a massive 6000mAh battery, which according to TECNO is capable of powering the phone for four days straight with just a single charge, among other specs.

We already have a summary of the specs which you can check here. We also already did the unboxing video for you which you can watch below.

TECNO’s local office sent us a review unit which we have been using for around two weeks now. However, this is not a review article, just a highlight of the three features that we really liked about the phone.

Worthy of mention is that the TECNO Pouvoir 4 is part of Android 11 Beta program. This means that if you already own this device, you can now try out public betas of Android 11, Google’s next major Android update ahead of its major release in Q3.

Remember as highlighted  in our previous article, Android 11 brings a couple of nifty additions to the general Android experience with new features like Chat bubbles, more security, revamped power menu, app suggestions, and more.

So what did we really like about the TECNO Pouvoir 4?

Design

Like all the phones we have seen on the Pouvoir series, the Pouvoir 4 comes with an enhanced sleek design and quite a big display screen – 7-inch HD+ Drop Display. The colour gradient back gives the phone an elegant feel.

Also at the top bezel there’s notch, never really been a fan of notches though. This notch houses the selfie camera, eatpice grill and there are also some two soft flashlights for selfies – one serving as the notification light while charging the phone.

The back also houses a 13MP AI Quad camera, two 2MP cameras and an AI lens, It’s also here that you have the fingerprint sensor.

The overall design looks good and we will give TECNO a plus here.

Camera

TECNO did not compromise on the cameras on TECNO Pouvoir 4 either.

The phone comes with a 13MP AI Quad camera, two 2MP cameras and an AI lens at the rear, and 8MP dual flash camera at the front for selfies. Camera modes include AI, beauty, portrait, wide selfie, bokeh, panorama among others.

The photos produced especially with some good lighting might not be the best but they are good for sharing on your social platforms or with your friends.

Traditionally we are used to the Google assistant always living under the home button on Android phones. A number of smartphone manufacturers including LG, Nokia, Xiaomi, Vivo and now TECNO are now launching phones with dedicated assistant buttons, similar to what Samsung has been doing with its Bixby assistant.

So, what can you possibly do with this button on your TECNO Pouvoir 4? Well, a single tap on the button brings up the assistant, a double tap brings up the Assistant’s visual snapshot feature that provides you with contextual information about your location and day and location among other information.

Those are our three favorite features on the TECNO Pouvoir 4. We also tried out the massive 6000mAh battery and our battery test article should also be up this week.
