Oppo A1k another budget-oriented device is launching in Kenya soon

Budget–oriented devices have become a common focus in the Kenyan market, and this isn’t about to end soon. Many companies are trying to catch up with TECNO, the most prominent market shareholder in the Kenyan smartphone space. TECNO with their budget phones for everyone makes it harder for other new companies to thrive in Kenya.

Oppo is already decided to follow this way, which just like Nokia with their Nokia 3.2 wants to redefine the facts you already have about budget smartphones. Be it poor camera, low-end processors, shabby designs, and most of all no updates future updates.

That’s what Oppo A1k wants to address too. A 4000mAh battery with fast charge capability powers Oppo A1k which makes it definitely it to our list of top smartphones for heavy users in Kenya.

The device features a water drop 6.1-inch HD+ display with a 19.5:9 ratio. More so the screen leverages the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection technology.

Regarding the platform the device is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 SoC that leverages ARM’s 12 nm architecture which is paired by a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The SoC is an Octa-Core processor made of 8 Cortex-A53 CPUs clocking at 2.0GHz which is the same setup the Infinix S4 uses.

Memory-wise, the device packs 32GB of ROM which you can still expand via microSD card up to 256GB. With the latest Android 9.0 Pie on the backend, Oppo has the latest ColorOS v6 and runs on 2GB of RAM.

In terms of photography, the front has a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture while the primary camera is an 8MP 1/3.2″ lens with f/2.2 aperture. Features supported by the primary camera include LED flash, Panorama, and HDR.

Other features include micro USB 2.0, USB On-The-Go support, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth 4.2 support, and also has sensors (Accelerometer, proximity, compass). You’ll get a 10W charger that will quickly get the job done while charging the big battery. The device will come in two colors, i.e., Red and Black.

Oppo A1k Availability

Oppo A1k has was announced back in April and has been launched in the Indian market last month, but the device will hit the Kenyan market by next week. The device will possibly have an MSRP price between Ksh 13,000 to Ksh 17,000.

Do you think the Oppo A1k will offer competition to the recently launched devices at that price point? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
