FasterCapital Backs DRC Agro-Food Startup

FasterCapital has accepted Agro-Food And Technology, a Matadi-based agro-food company in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), into its EquityPilot program. The initiative offers startups execution support over an initial 30-60 day period.

The company is led by founder Mechack Malu and aims to build local processing capacity and streamline supply operations to serve markets near Matadi.

FasterCapital’s engagement will focus on operational readiness rather than fundraising promises. Central Africa’s agro-food sector faces persistent challenges around processing capacity, equipment access, and reliable local distribution, according to the firm.

Over the first 30-60 days, FasterCapital will help the startup set milestones for production readiness and supply chain setup. The programme will also review equipment and raw-material plans, refine short-term financial projections, and prepare investor-facing materials.

“We’re excited to support Agro-Food And Technology through EquityPilot. Our team will focus on execution milestones and connecting the startup with the right ecosystem stakeholders,” said Hesham Zreik, Founder and CEO of FasterCapital.

Malu’s immediate priorities include completing equipment setup, organising procurement of raw materials, and establishing operational controls to support consistent output.

FasterCapital said improving local processing and distribution in Matadi could help stabilise short-term supply for neighbouring communities. Over the next 90 days, the startup and FasterCapital will track progress against the 60-day milestones and prepare an investor-readiness packet.

FasterCapital, established in 2014, describes itself as a global venture builder and online incubator that co-funds and co-founds early-stage startups worldwide.
