Kwetu eSIM lets travellers land connected in 190+ countries

A new eSIM platform, Kwetu eSIM, is targeting travellers frustrated by roaming charges and airport SIM card queues, offering instant mobile data activation in more than 190 countries directly from a smartphone app.
The app allows users to purchase travel data before departure and activate it in under a minute, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards, SIM ejector tools, or in-person purchases on arrival. Travellers select a destination, complete payment, then scan a QR code or enter an activation code to get online.
Kwetu distinguishes itself from other travel eSIM providers by supporting M-Pesa payments through STK Push, alongside card and other mobile money options, positioning it as one of the few eSIM services designed specifically around African payment habits.
Users who run out of data while abroad, or who did not purchase a plan before travelling, can top up instantly within the app without reinstalling anything. The platform also allows users to purchase an eSIM as a gift and send it to family or friends ahead of their travel.
The app is available on both iPhone and Android, supports multiple languages, and is positioned by its developers as a lower-cost, lower-hassle alternative to international roaming and local SIM card purchases, as travel for business, leisure and education continues to grow.
The Kwetu eSIM app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, with travel plans also purchasable at kwetuesim.com.
