Kenya to Host Africa Technology Leadership Conference in October

Kenya will host the second edition of the Africa Technology Leadership Conference (ATLC) in Nairobi this October, with organisers projecting more than 3,500 delegates from over 30 countries.

The State Department for Science, Research & Innovation (SDSRI) launched the conference on Wednesday, backed by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, INVIGENCE Ltd and Twinspen Limited.

The event runs on October 22 and 23 at the Argyle Hotel in Nairobi. This year’s theme is “From Technology Ambitions to Strategic Advantage: Leveraging Science, Research & Innovation for Diplomacy, Capital and Execution.”

Principal Secretary for Science, Research and Innovation Shaukat Abdulrazak said the conference is meant to push African governments, researchers and investors from policy talk into concrete deals.

“Africa has reached a pivotal moment where science, research and innovation must become strategic instruments for economic transformation and global influence,” said Prof Abdulrazak.

He said the platform would help governments, academia, industry and investors shape joint strategies while positioning Kenya as a technology diplomacy leader.

Organisers expect heads of government, diplomats, development finance institutions, university and research leaders, multinational corporations, venture capital firms, innovation hubs and entrepreneurs to attend.

The two-day event includes workshops, policy dialogues, investment discussions and technology showcases. Outcomes will feed into the ATLC 2026 Communique.

INVIGENCE Ltd chief executive Kenneth Rotich said the conference marks a shift from strategy documents to implementation.

“For years, Africa has produced bold digital strategies and ambitious innovation agendas. Our greatest opportunity now lies in execution,” said Dr Rotich.

He added that the conference would bring together the leaders who finance, govern, build and deploy technology, helping turn policy into investment and measurable impact.

Dr Rotich said the platform would also help commercialise research and strengthen Africa’s role in shaping global technology governance.

Twinspen Limited’s Brian Mung’ei said the initiative is expected to cement Nairobi’s status as a regional hub for technology dialogue, research collaboration and investment.

Registration for delegates, partners and exhibitors is now open. Organisers say more programme details and speaker line-ups will be announced in the coming weeks.
