Codar Tech Africa Secures $1.5 Million to Expand Tech Talent Pipeline Across the Continent

The EdTech and tech talent accelerator, a portfolio venture of KWE4 Africa Venture Studio, has closed a $1.5 million funding round to scale its AI and digital skills training programmes, deepening its role in building Africa's next generation of tech professionals.

Codar Tech Africa, one of the continent’s fastest-growing professional tech training companies, has announced the successful close of a $1.5 million funding round aimed at expanding access to digital skills training and strengthening scalable talent pipelines for African tech professionals.

The round, raised through a combination of equity and debt financing, will support the company’s push to widen access to high-quality technology education across the continent.

Founded in Lagos in 2022 by Sokefun David, Williams Olusegun, Oduoye John and Asaolu Emmanuel, Codar has built its reputation on practical, project-based training designed to prepare learners for real-world tech careers. The company currently serves more than 5,000 active learners and says it has reached over 70,000 students through its various programmes and initiatives, offering courses spanning software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

“Our mission has always been bigger than teaching people how to code. We’re building a generation of African innovators who will solve local problems with global technology. This investment validates our vision and gives us the resources to reach thousands more learners,” a Codar spokesperson said.

With the new capital, Codar plans to expand its AI curriculum, enhance its online learning platform, develop new physical learning hubs, and increase access to scholarships for aspiring tech professionals in underserved communities.

The company is a portfolio venture of KWE4 Africa Venture Studio, and its expansion comes at a time when demand for AI and digital talent is accelerating across Africa’s technology ecosystem. Codar has said it aims to position itself as a key contributor to closing the continent’s digital skills gap, with plans to expand multilingual learning options and pursue internationally recognised certification pathways for its graduates.

The company has also worked with partners including the Interswitch Developer Community on talent-building initiatives such as its Buildathon programme, reflecting a broader push by African fintechs and payments companies to strengthen the region’s engineering pipeline. Interswitch itself has been scaling its own Developer Academy, recently inducting its largest-ever cohort of developer interns from a pool of more than 20,000 applicants as part of efforts to build a sustainable pipeline of globally competitive tech talent in Nigeria and beyond.

With the fresh funding, Codar is expected to accelerate its expansion plans, deepen its impact in AI education, and strengthen its role in shaping Africa’s technology education landscape.
