Yellow Card Earns Seven GRC Awards Nominations as Compliance Efforts Gain Recognition

Yellow Card, a stablecoin-based digital assets infrastructure provider operating in more than 60 countries, has received seven nominations at the 2026 Morgans Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) Financial Crime Awards (Africa Edition), reflecting growing recognition of its compliance and financial crime prevention efforts.

Among the nominations is the Organizational Excellence in Governance, Risk and Compliance Award, which recognizes institutions demonstrating strong governance, regulatory compliance and risk management practices across Africa’s financial services sector.

The company also secured six individual nominations for two members of its compliance leadership team. Bright Anyanwu, Senior Compliance Manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for West, Central and East Africa, was nominated in four categories, including Governance, Risk and Compliance Leader, Financial Crime and Fraud Prevention Leader, GRC and Financial Crime Prevention Influencer (Africa), and Emerging Talent/Rising Star in GRC and Financial Crime Prevention.

Meanwhile, Group Head of Transaction Risk and Financial Crime Japhet Gana received nominations for Financial Crime and Fraud Prevention Leader and Governance, Risk and Compliance Leader.

Commenting on the recognition, Anyanwu said the nominations reflected the company’s commitment to embedding compliance at the centre of its operations as financial crime risks continue to evolve.

The nominations come as regulatory scrutiny of digital asset providers continues to increase globally, placing greater emphasis on anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) requirements and fraud prevention measures.

Since its establishment in 2016, Yellow Card has expanded its operations across Africa and other emerging markets while building a compliance framework that includes customer due diligence, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, anti-bribery controls and AML/CFT measures.

The company is licensed as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) and Third-Party Payment Provider (TPPP) in South Africa, holds a CASP license in Botswana, and maintains regulatory registrations in several jurisdictions, including the European Union and the United States. It is also registered as a Money Services Business (MSB) with the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Earlier this year, Yellow Card was named on the Fortune Crypto Innovators list and announced a regulatory anti-money laundering affiliation in Switzerland aimed at facilitating compliant financial flows between Africa and Europe.

Furthermore, voting for the Morgans GRC and Financial Crime Awards closes on August 30, 2026, after which the top three nominees in each category will be shortlisted for evaluation by an independent panel of judges. Winners are expected to be announced during the awards ceremony in Nairobi in November.
