Bolt Food Enters On-Demand Retail With Quickmart

Bolt Food has moved into on-demand retail in Kenya, announcing a partnership with Quickmart Supermarkets that gives users access to over 12,000 products for doorstep delivery through the Bolt Food app.

The integration spans more than 60 Quickmart stores nationwide, covering groceries, household goods, beverages, and wellness products. The expansion signals a deliberate pivot for Bolt Food from a restaurant-focused delivery service toward a broader everyday convenience platform.

“By bringing retail into our ecosystem, we are making it easier for customers to access what they need, when they need it, while strengthening our role in shaping the future of digital commerce in Kenya,” said Ali Zaryab, Bolt Food General Manager for Kenya and Ghana.

The timing is significant for Quickmart, which is celebrating two decades in the Kenyan market. For the supermarket chain, the deal provides a ready digital distribution channel to reach customers who are increasingly shifting to app-based shopping.

“With close to 70 stores nationwide, we look forward to our shoppers enjoying this added convenience, wherever they are,” said Betty Wamaitha, Quickmart’s Chief Marketing Officer. “This collaboration ensures that our customers experience our promise of being always fresh and easy in even more ways.”

Bolt Food said the Quickmart rollout is the opening move in a wider retail expansion, with more partners in the pipeline. The company also flagged continued investment in technology and operational infrastructure as it looks to consolidate its position in Kenya’s fast-growing digital commerce market.
